Nabay’s Municipality was founded in 1963. Its local government is currently led by a Municipal Council of 12 members, chaired by Dr. Joseph Melhem Atallah and his deputy Mr. Tarek Jameel El Ghool. In addition, the town has three representatives known as ‘mokhtars. The Municipality is subject to decree No. 5595/82.
Nabay is a Christian village, with a population of approximately 4,500 people from three denominations: Greek-Catholic (Melkite), Maronite, and Greek Orthodox. The number of displaced Syrians is estimated to be around 600, with no Palestinian refugees in the town
